Symptoms

ERROR 2018-12-04 15:15:47.000426 [main] - A failure occurred sending a message to Kafka.
org.apache.kafka.common.errors.TimeoutException: Failed to update metadata after 60000 ms.

Additionally, the replication is very slow and also abends with the below message
2018-12-04 15:45:47 ERROR OGG-15051 Java or JNI exception:
oracle.goldengate.util.GGException: Error detected handling transaction commit event.
