Symptoms

Replication error: "I/O Error: Connection reset by peer" in Backend OUD servers

[20/Nov/2017:14:43:28 +0800] category=SYNC severity=NOTICE msgID=15138921
msg=SSL connection attempt from <HOSTNAME> (<IP>)
failed: Remote host closed connection during handshake <<<<<<<<
[20/Nov/2017:14:43:29 +0800] category=SYNC severity=NOTICE msgID=15139051
msg=The local replication server cannot connect to the replication server :
<HOSTNAME>:<REPL_PORT>, please check the configuration


Another variation of the errors,

dsreplication status returns:

The displayed information might not be complete because the following errors were encountered reading the configuration of the existing servers:
Error reading replication configuration of server <hostname>:<port>.
Details: Error reading monitoring information of server <hostname>:<port>.
Details: LDAP response read timed out, timeout used: <value in ms>.

ds replication status shows "Not Connected" for some or many replication servers.
