Symptoms

When attempting to run an object in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) that uses variables, the following error is thrown:

ODI-1226: Step <ODI STEP NAME> fails after 1 attempt(s).
ODI-1240: Flow <ODI STEP NAME> fails while performing a Loading operation. This flow loads target table <ODI STEP NAME>_STAGING.
Caused By: oracle.odi.core.exception.OdiRuntimeException: java.lang.Exception: ODI-17506: Variable has no value: <PROJECT_NAME>.<VARIABLE_NAME>
