Symptoms

Querying datatype of XMLType in SQL Developer grid displays the values as (XMLTYPE) instead of actual elements value. Sample test case provided below.

Using SQL Developer 18.4 version with "Display XML Value in Grid" unset.

Using SQL Developer 18.4 version with "Display XML Value in Grid" unset.

1. Go to Tools-->Preferences-->Database-->Advanced-->Display XML value in Grid(Check mark this option).

2. Restart SQL Developer and Run the SQL statement.
