"The SQL Server login requires an SSL connection" Error Received when Testing Microsoft Azure SQL Database Service with ODI Agent (Doc ID 2514263.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to test the connection to the Microsoft Azure SQL Database Service using the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) agent through a Microsoft SQL Server Data Server, the following error occurs:

oracle.odi.runtime.agent.invocation.InvocationException:[FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver] The SQL Server login requires an SSL connection.

Different versions of the Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver may report this error instead:

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/microsoft/sqlserver/jdbc/osgi/Activator has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0
