Browser Can not Identify Session Only by Port (Doc ID 2514885.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 12, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer created two managed servers (<MS1>, <MS2>) on one machine with different port and without setting them into cluster.  These two independent managed servers had deployed the same application that includes login function. Login profile was stored in HttpSession.

Customer found that opening a browser, and accessing application on those two managed servers in two browser tabs individually would cause "session override" issue.  Steps as below:

1. open browser(such as IE, Chrome)

2. visit application on <MS1>, and go through login page.

3. open new tab, visit application on <MS2>, and go through login page as above step did on <MS1>.

4. return to tab which access <MS1>, and refresh page.  Page will logout automatically with session expired.
