OUI Receives "[Fatal Error] DISPLAY variable set incorrectly" when Installing ODI 12c (Doc ID 2523485.1)

The following error is received when running the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) to install Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c:

<JDK HONE>/bin/java -jar /<DIRECTORY CONTAINING THE ODI .jar FILES>/fmw_12.
Launcher log file is /tmp/OraInstall<YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MI-SSAM/PM>/launcher<YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MI-SSAM/PM>.log.
Extracting the installer . . . . . . . . . . Done
Checking if CPU speed is above 300 MHz. Actual <VALUE> MHz Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. Actual <VALUE> Passed
Checking swap space: must be greater than 512 MB. Actual <VALUE> MB Passed
Checking if this platform requires a 64-bit JVM. Actual <VALUE> Passed (64-bit not required)
Checking temp space: must be greater than 300 MB. Actual <VALUE> MB Passed

[Fatal Error] DISPLAY variable set incorrectly: <IP ADDRESS>:1.0

[Resolution] Verify that your DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, and that there is an X11
server on the system. If you are running the Oracle Installer as a different user or on a different host,
you may need to use the xhost command to ensure that host/user has permission to write to your display.
