Symptoms

On : OUD 12.2.1.3.180322 version, when attempting to run a nightly binary backup the following error occurs.

[30/Nov/2018:00:01:55 +0000] severity="SEVERE_ERROR" msgCount=xxx msgID=xxxxxx message="An error occurred while attempting to back up backend <name> with the requested configuration: An error occurred while attempting to back up database file nnnnABC.jdb: attempt to write past end of STORED entry (ZipOutputStream.java:336 BackupManager.java:1363 BackupManager.java:589 BackendImpl.java:1777 BackupTask.java:500 BackupTask.java:674 Task.java:1167 TaskThread.java:212)"


The issue has occurred in 3 out of 5 of the nightly binary backups since 12C upgrade.

Due to this issue, some backups are not completing.
