OID 12c Creating an Instance Using Same Instance Name From a Prior Failed Configuration Attempt Fails to Start: [Server start command for OID server '<INSTANCE NAME>' failed due to: [Server failed to start up but Node Manager was not aware of the reason] (Doc ID 2535934.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 30, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Creating an Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 12c 12.2.1.3.0 instance using the same instance name from a prior failed configuration fails to start.

When attempting to create an Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 12c 12.2.1.3.0 instance using the same instance name from a prior failed configuration attempt (example: 'oidrepl1'), it fails to start with error:

It fails consistently with any future configuration attempts using this same instance name.

It does Not seem to apply to any other instance names used with other configuration attempts, which could be created and run without any problems.

This issue occurs if OID server start up or shutdown fails due to OID zombie process or shared memory segment, or any other reason due to existence of previous process id in the process status table.
