Connector Upgrade Fails with "Request[/connectorUpgrade] does not contain handler parameter named 'method'" (Doc ID 2536485.1)

Symptoms

Trying to upgrade a custom connector in OIM 11.1.2.3 that was based on OID Connector.

In Upgrade Connector Wizard, Step 1: Select Connector XML to Upgrade
- provided custom connector as "Wizard Mode XML File" and click Continue.

After this browser window closes and the following is displayed in OIM log (wls_oim1.out)

ERROR:

javax.servlet.ServletException: Request[/connectorUpgrade] does not contain handler parameter named 'method'. This may be caused by whitespace in the label text.
