Last updated on AUGUST 06, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Unified Directory - Version 12.2.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The goal is to provide information on listing backend suffix which can be backed up, how to backup and restore and other useful tips/hints.

OUD 12.2.1.4 Administration Guide - Chapter 18 - Managing Directory Data

Section: Importing and Exporting Data
Section: Backing Up and Restoring Data

This document speaks specifically to the above goal, however other options could be using the "tar" command (or similar on other OS platforms) or export-ldif which can be used prior to a replication setup or patching process.

1. Stopping the servers and taking a tar backup of the entire instance $OUD_INSTANCE folder/directory, is safe to restore.

NOTE *** Oracle is not responsible for instructions/information from 3rd party sites that may be contained in this KM note. The details provided here are information only.

2. The export-ldif command can be used to have a complete ldap data backup for each backend, with each saved in separate ldif file.

These methods could help in cases where a restore is not possible, or due to a corruption of the backup/restore.
