How To Use Coherence Connectivity Using DNS Names? (Doc ID 2572152.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 09, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Coherence - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

This is about doing Coherence connectivity using DNS:

Customer says we have always used IP addresses in our configuration files. We need to move this to DNS so we can support future server migrations without having to update all of our client configurations. That leads to two questions:

1. Does coherence client have any logic to identify changes to DNS and then reconnect Or do we need to shut down the old nodes to force the client to reconnect.

2. Is there a better way to do this? We need to move our clusters to a new network. We have many clients that are actively connecting to the clusters and we do not have the ability to force a config file change to those applications.
