Mapping Executes on Incorrect Schema After Upgrade From ODI 11g to ODI 12c (Doc ID 2577488.1)

Symptoms

After upgrading Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 11.1.1.7 to 12.2.1.3.0, an interface/mapping fails with the following exception:

ODI-1298: Serial task "SERIAL-EU-EBS_SOURCE_UNIT (20)" failed because child task "Create synonym on target-LKM Oracle to Oracle (DBLINK)- (100)" is in error.
ODI-1228: Task Create synonym on target-LKM Oracle to Oracle (DBLINK)- fails on the target connection <connection_name>.
Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object

create synonym <work_schema_TARGET>.C$<table_unique_name>

12c code (executes with the above error):

create synonym <work_schema_SOURCE>.C$_<table_unique_name>
for <work_schema_SOURCE>.C$_<table_unique_name>@<DBLINK>
