Oracle Reports 9i Server Does Not Appear To Equally Load Requests Across Engines? (Doc ID 258225.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 21, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 9.0.2.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Report Server does not appear to load the engines logically or equally.

An example test / setup:

The following parameters are set in the <report_server>.conf file

initEngine=4
maxEngine=6
minEngine=4
engLife=50
maxIdle=30

There is no Report Server clustering implemented - just the one Report Server.

Over a 10 minute period, several report requests are made concurrently via a forms application or in a standalone URL call.  By monitoring the engine activity, it may be apparent that some engines are doing more than others.  The assumed expectation is that the requests would be serviced across all engines on a round-robin basis.
