EDQ Event Log Crashes Immediately After Attempted Launch

From EDQ Director when attempting to launch the Event Log, the frame of the Event Log window appears, but immediately an error message appears:
An error has occurred and the application will close to maintain the integrity of any open processes.
Upon clicking the "View Details" link, the following is displayed:
The only option is to "Close Application"
Similar behavior is reported with the Server Console as well (will not start).
