Testing ODBC Excel Connection in ODI Terminates Agent with 'undefined symbol: SQLAllocEnv' (Doc ID 2587071.1)

Symptoms

When using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Studio installed on Windows to test an ODBC data server pointing to a Microsoft Excel file, it succeeds with the Local (No Agent). However, testing the same data server on the Agent running on a Linux server fails with the following error:

ODI-26039: Connection failed.
<JDK_PATH>/bin/java: symbol lookup error: <JDK_PATH>/jre/lib/amd64/libJdbcOdbc.so: undefined symbol: SQLAllocEnv
The data server is using the SUN ODBC driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
