Integration Interfaces Exported with ODI 11g are Imported into ODI 12c and not Converted into Mappings (Doc ID 2589240.1)

Symptoms

In an environment that is being upgraded to Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c, some 11g Integration Interfaces that were imported are still showing as Interfaces and not Mappings in the 12c Repository (and Studio UI).

What could be the reason for objects that are imported from ODI 11g to be imported into ODI 12c as 11g Interfaces, and not Mappings?

Why does ODI Studio not automatically convert or upgrade these 11g interfaces to 12c mappings?
