Ldap: Error Code 48 "Server Is Configured To Deny Anonymous Binds" Error In OIDDAS 9.0.2 When "Allow Anonymous Bind" Is Disabled (Doc ID 259312.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Internet Directory - Version 9.0.4 to 9.0.4 [Release 10gR1]
Information in this document applies to any platform. NOTE: "Applies to" version incorrect due to ORION not listing 9.0.2 as "minimum" version.

Symptoms

Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 9iAS 9.0.2.

Setting "Allow Anonymous binds" from "1" to "0" to disable anonymous binds in the OIDAdmin tool (Oracle Directory Manager or ODM), or via command line modification of orclanonymousbindsflag, prevents successfully editing user profiles in OIDDAS.

After setting "Allow Anonymous Binds" to "0", then, for example, trying to change a user password from portal>builder>administer>edit/delete user, after entering the password and clicking "submit", an error returns as follows:

Page cannot be displayed
javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 48 - Server is Configured to Deny Anonymous Binds]

The same error appears in the ORACLE_HOME/ldap/log/das.log.

Changes

Disabled "Allow Anonymous binds" is set in OID.
