Vanity Redirect URLS (301) are Returning HTTPS Status Code 404

All vanity urls specified as redirects (301 response) return 404 errors. However, the vanity urls that they redirect to return 200.

In the sites.log, the following error is seen:

[ERROR] [.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [oracle.fatwire.sites.webreference] Error looking up WebReference
java.lang.NullPointerException

Changes

 {Shared_fs}/Storage/WebRoot/null file had been created to resolve an issue with the Shared filesystem taking a long time to check if this file existed.
