.appmergegen Directories Are Not Deleted After Console Logout Or Server Shutdown (Doc ID 2604356.1)

Symptoms

When expanding a deployed ear application on the weblogic console to see its configuration, the following two directories are created:

Accessing the application multiple times by logging in/out & back in over time, a long list of the .appmergegen_xxxxxx directories are created.

This results in huge disk space usage. Those files never get deleted, even after the admin server is shutdown. The only way to clear the space is to manually delete those files.
