How To Rename Oracle_Home_Name When Having Multiple JDeveloper Installations (Doc ID 2606493.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 19, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle JDeveloper - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Every JDeveloper installation creates an entry in Windows registry with the format OracleHome1, OracleHome2, OracleHome3, etc. and this value is used for the Start menu.

During installation, one can choose OracleHome path but cannot choose the name for this folder under Start menu (OracleHome1, OracleHome2, OracleHome3, etc.), which is confusing and not very descriptive on the version installed under that folder.

If the OracleHome1 is changed in Windows registry, where does also the oracle_home_name need to be changed inside JDeveloper files to make it recognize the new path?

Or how to do it during JDeveloper installation?
