Intermittent java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out Exceptions While Invoking Custom REST Web Service (Doc ID 2615434.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to invoke a custom REST Web Service, the invocation fails with following exception.

The issue was happening intermittently and the above mentioned exception was not getting logged only in the standard out and not in WebLogic Server log files.

This was happening because the exception was thrown by the custom Web Service application and redirected to standard output.

Changes

 Deploy a custom REST Web Service application in WebLogic 12.2.1.3.0
