Symptoms

When creating a Datasource from WebLogic Server (WLS) 12.2.1 Console, it is failing with a "java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: IO Error: Got minus one from a read call" when testing the connection.
When clicking on Test Connection during the creation of a datasource, the following error prints on Weblogic console:
