Symptoms

Enterprise Manager Not Starting After WebCenter Sites Install: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout: method ()V not found


After performing a fresh installation of WebCenter Sites, the Enterprise Manager application is not starting up when starting up the Administration Server.

EM (Enterprise Manager) is not starting and we see following errors:
<[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '4' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <> <> <[severity-value: 16] [rid: 0] [partition-id: 0] [partition-name: DOMAIN] > weblogic.application.ModuleException: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout: method ()V not found
at weblogic.application.internal.ExtensibleModuleWrapper.start(ExtensibleModuleWrapper.java:140)
at weblogic.application.internal.flow.ModuleListenerInvoker.start(ModuleListenerInvoker.java:124)
