Unable to Access WLS Console (Authentication Denied) Through a Proxy URL After Applying WLS 10.3.6 PSU for Jan 2020 (Doc ID 2637876.1)

Last updated on MARCH 07, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle WebLogic Server - Version 10.3.6 to 10.3.6
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When trying to login to WebLogic console via a proxy, an authentication denied issue is occurring. It has been seen with Apache, OHS, OTD, and Load Balancer URLs. Any type of proxy or directly accessing /console on port 80/443.

This error is seen after applying the WebLogic Server Patch Set Update(PSU) 10.3.6.0.200114 and only in browser with no information written into the Admin Server logs.

For troubleshooting this issue, you can do the following steps in order to activate the Authentication debugs:

1. Acquire the lock by clicking on "Lock & Edit" button on the change center, located at the upper left part of the screen.
2. Navigate to Environment > Servers.
3. Select the Admin_Server.
4. Navigate to Debug Tab.
5. Expand WebLogic tab.
6. Locate the following debugs and click the checkbox on the left side:
 >> security -> Atn -> DebugSecurityAtn
 >> servlet -> DebugHttp
7. Click Enable on the upper part of the screen.
8. Activate changes.
9. Restart the server.

After enabling the Atn debugs, the below thread is provided in the Admin Server log:
