How To Create OIM Application Instances With Underscore Characters In The Name (Doc ID 2639814.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 11, 2021

Applies to:

Identity Manager - Version 11.1.2.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Currently, in the OIM UI if you attempt to create a new Application Instance whose name contains an underscore you receive the following pop-up error message:

Error: The format is incorrect.

Name must only contain alphanumeric characters and start with alphabetic character

This limitation of no underscores in the name is an ADF restriction and not an OIM one.

Application Instance Names with underscores are supported in the OIM Server itself.

If Application Instance Names with underscores are a requirement then the OIM API can be used to create the application instances.
