Can Auto Update Be Configured to Force Installation of JRE Updates with No End User Delay or Disruption
(Doc ID 2642201.1)
Last updated on JANUARY 20, 2023
Applies to:
Java SE JDK and JRE - Version 8 to 8Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Install JRE 8 updates organization wide, with Auto Update enabled, but lock end users out from making changes to the "Java" and "Update" tabs of the Java Control Panel (JCP), so that users cannot stop/delay the auto-update feature.
Is it possible to use a System-wide deployment.properties file to achieve the following:
1. Locks the "Java" tab of the Java Control Panel so end-users cannot change any settings on this tab
2. Sets the Auto Update policy to "Notify Me" = 'Before Installing' and "Check for updates automatically" = 'Enabled'
3. Locks down the Auto Update options above so end-users cannot change them.
