Symptoms

The error SP2-0306 comes when the password for the schema user contains '/' (slash ) in it.
For example:

C:\>sqlplus test/"test/"@oracle92

SQL*Plus: Release 9.0.1.3.0 - Production on Tue Dec 16 16:16:41 2003

(c) Copyright 2001 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

SP2-0306: Invalid option.
Usage: CONN[ECT] [logon] [AS {SYSDBA|SYSOPER}]
where ::= [/ ][@] | /
Enter user-name:

The same above syntax works fine when you are already in the sqlplus.

For example:

C:\>sqlplus system/manager@oracle92
.
.

SQL>connect test/"test/"@oracle92
Connected.
SQL> show user
USER is "TEST"
