ORA-12505 When Configure JobStatusRepository For Pluggable Database (PDB) (Doc ID 2643888.1)

Last updated on MARCH 03, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Reports Developer - Version 12.2.1.1.0 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 12.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 12.2.1.x version, Oracle Reports

Reports Server fails to start when configure jobStatusRepository against 12.x database with multitenant option (PDB).

ERROR

ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

This error occurs regardless what format is attempted for dbconn as described in <Note:2098657.1>.

The same connection works with SQL Developer, and also with sqlplus from $FMW_ORACLE_HOME/bin directory. The TNS entry is correctly set up under $DOMAIN_HOME/config/fmwconfig/tnsnames.ora.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Follow steps in:
<Note:2098657.1> - How to Enable jobStatusRepository in Reports 12c (Doc ID 2098657.1)

Your Reports Server rwserver.conf will have an entry similar to:

<jobStatusRepository>
<property name="dbuser" value="db_user_name"/>
<property name="dbpassword" value="csf:reports:rep_repository"/>
<property name="dbconn" value="host:port:service"/>
</jobStatusRepository>

No matter what option or format used for dbconn, it still fails.  For example:

<property name="dbconn" value="<your_hostname>:<port>:<service_name>"/>
or
<property name="dbconn" value="<tns_entry>"/>
or
<property name="dbconn" value="<service_name>"/>
