Lotus Notes Connector is Causing Problems Creating or Deleting Groups via Reconciliation

Symptoms
When removing a single group (delete group operation) from Lotus, all groups are removed from the target user in OIM. Based on these observations, we discovered this:
Lotus Notes - Group Members Are Erroneously Getting Removed on Target (Doc ID 2044790.1)
And applied the suggested patch -- bug 20598738
After the patch, when provisioning a user (account) from OIM to Lotus Notes, the account is created, but groups are no longer passed from OIM and assigned/linked. This is a provisioning issue that now occurs after applying patch for bug 20598738.
In the diagnostic log, we are seeing the following error:
