JDBC SSL Connection from WebLogic Application to Oracle Database Failed with "SQLRecoverableException: IO Error: Connection closed" (Doc ID 2665902.1)

Symptoms

Using WL Datsource it failed to make JDBC SSL connection from application  to Oracle database

Non SSL connection was working OK

When attempting to make a TCPS connection to the Oracle database the following messages are output:


On the database the listener trace shows that the SSL handshake was successful:

 18:06:13.084 : SSL_Info:SSLv3 flush data (TLSv12 protocol)
 18:06:13.084 : SSL_Info:SSL negotiation finished successfully
 18:06:13.084 : SSL_Info:Cipher=ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384
 18:06:13.084 : nzos_Handshake:exit
 18:06:13.084 : ntzdosecneg:SSL handshake done
