Executing SQL Query/Script Raises Error 'Protocol Violation' for DBLinks (Doc ID 2665951.1)

Symptoms

Execute SQL statement querying the database VIEW with a large set of data, expect to have resulted in the "Query Result" tab.

Scrolling through the results sets(by Default 50 rows is displayed) shows below error.

 

Followed by Database Connection reset.

Changes

 Database upgraded to 12.2.0.1 and SQL using DB links to connect to another database.

Cause
 Multiple Oracle Client Installation exists in the Client Machine and incompatible drivers(ojdbc7.jar) used by default for java.library.path when SQL Developer initiated.
