Can/Should OUDSM be Installed on Each OUD Instance Host? (Doc ID 2689881.1)

Last updated on JULY 31, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Unified Directory - Version 12.2.1.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

To prevent access to each OUD instance host, the OUD host's firewall was configured to not allow access to the OUD admin port from an external IP.  Since OUDSM connects to each OUD instance's Admin Port to administer the instance, if the OUD Admin Port is closed to external IPs in the firewall configuration, administration through OUDSM would only be successful if OUDSM is installed on the same host as the OUD instance.

To administer each OUD instance, is an OUDSM installation allowed on each OUD host?

Can the OUDSM domain be extended as a managed server in the same domain as another OUDSM installation that is coupled with the Admin Server (which is the default configuration) where the OUDSM managed server points to another machine (host:port)?
