Imaging Basic Viewer Hangs in Document Rendering and Error "weblogic.transaction.internal.TimedOutException: Transaction timed out after 62 second" Occurs (Doc ID 2695940.1)

Symptoms

An error occurs while opening an image in the WebCenter Content: Imaging Basic Viewer.  The Viewer shows 'Document Rendering' but never displays the document.  Large PDF documents are timing out when being rendered in the Basic Viewer. Small documents work.  Stuck threads also appear in the logs, but then become unstuck.

The following errors appear in the logs:
