Symptoms


ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

Running the upgrade assistant in readiness check mode for upgrading from 11.1.1.8 to 12.2.1.3 fails with the following errors:

 

ERROR

 

Oracle Metadata Services[<SCHEMA_PREFIX>_MDS] - failed
Oracel WebCenter Portal: Spaces and Services [<SCHEMA_PREFIX>_WEBCENTER] - failed

Oracle Metadata Services
MDS-92001: The upgrade is not supported from Oracle Metadata Services schema version of 11.1.1.6.0
Cause: An unsupported base schema version has being upgraded.
Action: Refer to the Oracle Metadata Services Upgrade Guide for supported versions to upgrade.

Oracle WebCenter Portal: Spaces and Services
UPGCMP-05418: Oracle WebCenter Portal schema WEBCENTER does not contain the required indexes.
Cause: The schema does not contain the indexes which are required to be present before upgrade.
Action: Ensure all required indexes are present before upgrade.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Run the upgrade assistant in readiness mode as follows:

    ./ua –readiness check


  2. The above will fail with the above errors.
