Portlet Consumer Error in Portlets Caused by java.io.EOFException: Premature EOF encountered (Doc ID 2699591.1)

Symptoms

Getting the following error intermittently in WSRP Portlets consumed in WebCenter Portal:

Portlet Consumer Error

 

The Spaces diagnostic log shows the following error:
