Symptoms


After upgrading from Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 11g or 12c to ODI 12.2.1.4, mappings using a custom Integration Knowledge Module (IKM) are failing to execute with BeanShell script errors. The same executed successfully in previous ODI releases, such as ODI 12.2.1.2.x or 12.2.1.3.x.  
The custom KM executes java code blocks including variables, and the errors are pointing to issues with returning the variable values.

This issue could also be seen when executing java code blocks in ODI procedures.
