Unable to Start NodeManager after JDK Upgraded

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Installed a newer version of Java on the server (since figured the old version was incomplete). After that the server went down. Believe it was because the newer version replaced the default paths, then reinstalled the older version with the original paths, which caused some improvement. However, nodemanager never started up.
