Cold Fusion Using JDBC Not Able To Connect To A Database When There Is Failover/Switchover (Doc ID 2720344.1)

Last updated on APRIL 25, 2023

Applies to:

JDBC - Version 12.1.0.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

There is a non-RAC & non-container standalone databases with data guard environment.
All applications are running in Adobe Cold Fusion. Applications use data source to connect to databases.
To create database source it is necessary to provide dB user id, password, database SID, port number and host name.

In the data guard environment it was created role based service to connect to the database. If there is a failover/switchover to one of the standby database there is no issues connecting to the database from toad or other clients which uses tnsnames.ora.
Main issue is with applications connecting to the databases using data sources. If there is a failover/switchover to the standby database, the data source is still pointing to the old hostname.
