"Test connection failed" Error Occurs With Application Test Connection Or "Application modification failed" When Updating The Application (Doc ID 2725165.1)

Symptoms

In Identity Self Service > Manage > Applications while adding or updating an application, the following issues are seen:

 

When attempting to test the connection on an application's Basic Information tab, the following error occurs in the UI:
"Test connection failed"

 

Similarly, when updating an application, for example by modifying details in one of the subtabs under the Settings tab you see an error with:

"Application modification failed"

or

"Application modification failed" with Internal Server Error

 


When these issues occur, there are no errors in the log. Enabling TRACE:32 level logging on oracle.iam.rest will expose messages indicating the URL is not valid.
