Got Minus One From A Read Call Error When JDBC Client Is Trying To Connect To 12c Database Over SSL (Doc ID 2727315.1)

Symptoms

On : 12.1.0.2.0 version, Thin JDBC driver

An application is getting the following error when trying to connect over SSL using JDBC 12.1.0.2 against a 12.1.0.2 database:

Connection failure.
java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: IO Error: Got minus one from a read call
at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.logon(T4CConnection.java:743)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.connect(PhysicalConnection.java:662)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CDriverExtension.getConnection(T4CDriverExtension.java:32)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect(OracleDriver.java:560)
at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:664)

Caused by: oracle.net.ns.NetException: Got minus one from a read call
at oracle.net.ns.Packet.receive(Packet.java:314)
at oracle.net.ns.NSProtocolStream.negotiateConnection(NSProtocolStream.java:159)
at oracle.net.ns.NSProtocol.connect(NSProtocol.java:264)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.connect(T4CConnection.java:1452)

The issue also occurs with JDBC 11.2.0.4.
