OUD 11g/12c - Effects of Changes to Default Password Policy on Existing Users
(Doc ID 2727316.1)
Last updated on DECEMBER 20, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Unified Directory - Version 11.1.2.3.170418 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Clarification on the expected behavior for existing LDAP accounts is needed when modification of the default password policy settings is performed. In example; for increasing required password complexity.
The changes could be:
- increasing min-password-length value within 'Length-Based Password Validator'
- change the value of default-password-storage-scheme to a stronger method (accompanied with setting 'deprecated-password-storage-scheme' to the former)
or;
- increasing value of 'password-history-count' or 'password-history-duration'
Would any of these changes have effect on existing passwords?
For example, would existing passwords that are now "too short" be deemed invalid for logging in?
