ora-1017 When Trying To Connect From A JDBC Application To A Datatabase Server Using Oracle Wallet (Doc ID 2730559.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 31, 2022

Applies to:

JDBC - Version 12.1.0.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Connections using the credentials from the wallet from SQL*Plus works successfully. However , the connections from a web service that connects to the database with Oracle JDBC to get XML data fails with java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied.
The issue occurs with one particular user after a number of changes were performed at the database side including a password security function applied to the user profile and SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER changed from 11 to 12.
These changes have been tried to be reverted to get to the point where this was working, but the ORA-1017 error persists.
No changes were performed at the client side.
