Oracle JDBC Thin Driver Generates Different Execution Plan

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Different Execution Plans are getting generated with SQL*Plus versus JDBC Thin9i for a given set of Bind Variables.
JDBC-OCI Driver works just fine - Plans generated are similar to SQL*Plus.
JDBC Drivers 10g or above work do not show this behavior.
The version of the Oracle RDBMS does not seem to matter - Only the JDBC Client Version, Client Type(Thin/Thick) makes a difference.
