Symptoms

An application error caused severe performance impacts with requests taking a long time to respond.

Thread dumps show blocked threads resembling the following:

"[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '109' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'" #60083 daemon prio=5 os_prio=0 tid=<tid> nid=<nid> waiting for monitor entry [0x00007fe3a7bf9000]
  java.lang.Thread.State: BLOCKED (on object monitor)
