AJAX Processes Do Not Always Call Database Session Cleanup PL/SQL Code (Doc ID 2745071.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 12, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Application Express (APEX) - Version 20.1 to 20.1
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Issue Discription

APEX applications use database contexts to secure access to the data in the database. Database contexts are embedded in database views and VPD policies to control the access to data in a user's database session. We use the Initialization PL/SQL Code and Cleanup PL/SQL Code in the APEX application security settings to set and clear the database contexts.

Our diagnostics code shows us that when a AJAX call requests text from an APEX application process and APEX application process does not send back any text then the APEX processing does not fully complete and the Database Session Cleanup PL/SQL Code is not run.

Reason is due to PSU patch 30990551 applied on Apex 20.1
