Goal

This MOS Note provides PDF guide which gives a detailed step-by-step procedure on how to inject Guest vServers Network information into OVMM 3.4.x. Procedure in this MOS note applies to following Exalogic Virtual releases.

Following in some additional details on issues where procedure in this Note can help solve issues.

In Exalogic Virtual Racks (October 2020 PSU or 2.0.6.4.X PSU versions) with OVM Manager 3.4.X version, in some cases we may notice issue of Guest vServers Network information missing in EMOC BUI console. This can be confirmed by clicking on Guest vServer in EMOC BUI console and going to Network tab.

Because of Guest vServers network information missing in EMOC, when you restart affected Guest vServer from EMOC, EMOC deletes the VNICs on the IB Switches and does not recreate them. This is because EMOC does not have Guest vServers network information like bond numbers, MAC addresses. Because of this we will noticed that the affected Guest vServers will not have EoIB network when they are restarted from EMOC.

EMOC gets the Guest vServers network information shown in BUI console from OVM Manager 3.4.X Database. When Guest vServer is created from EMOC there will be OVM Manager sendmessages operations which will save the newly created Guest vServers network information in OVM Manager database. Guest vServer network information saved in OVMM DB will then populate in EMOC BUI console network tab. For any subsequent start operations of newly created Guest vServer EMOC will read the Network information on Guest vServer gathered from OVMM DB table and then recreate VNICs as needed.

The following are a few reasons why Guest vServers network information may go missing in EMOC BUI console.

Following steps in this Note will resolve the issue of network information for Guest vServers in EMOC.
