ODI Loading Empty Strings from Flat File as Whitespace Instead of NULL (Doc ID 2759160.1)

Symptoms

After upgrading Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.1.3.0 to 12.2.1.4, flat files that contain a field which has a blank value such as an empty string, are resulting in whitespace being inserted into the target. Previously, the behavior was to insert a NULL value.

Additionally, If the mapping is attempting to insert data from a source file column specified as "String" into a "Numeric" column in an Oracle target, the issue can surface as an "ORA-01722: invalid number" error message.
