Coherence Metrics Support Does Not Interoperate Seamlessly With Old Version And Throws ClassCastException

Symptoms
In a FMW Domain 12.2.1.4.0.0 domain: Customer uses the Manifest mechanism to load both 3.6.1.8 and 12.2.1.4 versions of coherence jar files. 3.6.1.8 to serve his Custom Application and 12.2.1.4 to serve MDS. This setup was working (and showed up in the log files) until Customer applied the July 2020 WLS PSU. After applying the PSU , the Admin Server failed to start and so the Customer applied the Coherence Patch 12.2.1.4.5. Now the server started but other Class loading issues manifested as a Runtime ClassCastException.
