Applying ODI 12c Patch Deployment Archive or Standard Import Fails with "ODI-17591: Name "[NAME]" is already used" After Deleting and Generating a Scenario (Doc ID 2782593.1)

Symptoms

Using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Studio Deployment Archives (DA). A destination work repository was initialized using a Deployment Archive from a source Development Repository. Since the first initial DA, developers working in the source repository have deleted scenarios and generated new scenarios using the same name and version. A new patch DA was created. The new patch DA cannot be applied in the destination repository, and the following error is seen:



  • Log into the source work repository and create an Initial Deployment Archive
    Team -> Deployment Archives -> Create From....

  • Log into the destination work repository and initialize:
    Team -> Deployment Archives -> Initialize Deployment Repository....

  • Log into the source work repository. Delete a scenario that is included in the initial DA.

  • Generate a new scenario from the same mapping or package and using the same name and version as the deleted scenario.

  • Create a Patch Deployment Archive
    Team -> Deployment Archives -> Create From....

  • Log into the destination work repository and apply the patch DA:
    Team -> Deployment Archives -> Patch Deployment Repository...

    => Observe the error
